A little history about the making of REGGAE FOR LIFE

This project incorporates two of the things I am most passionate about.

The first is to acquire funding sources to promote and stimulate awareness for the very talented reggae artist, here in Canada and on the world stage as well.

For too long the talented Canadian reggae artists have put out quality works with no viable outlets to promote or to sell their music.  www.canadianreggaeworld.com is that outlet to introduce Canada and the rest of this planet to the to the diversity of the artists' offerings.

For 30 years of reggae's existence in Canada many of our native sons and daughters have never heard the albums of acts like Messenjah, The Sattalites, Leroy Brown, Truths & Rights, Ibadan, Chester Miller, Sonia Collymore, Steele, Kidd Rasta, Donna Makeda, The Arsenals, King Ujah and many, many more......

My other passion is the eradication of AIDS and HIV from disease worn Africa.  As we focus on frivolous things like music, we must take the time to protect and to support those who do not have the means to do it for themselves.  So a portion of every dollar collected goes towards the eventual relief of the aids epidemic in Africa.

As the genre grows and the industry generates more income, it is my hope that more monies will be allotted towards combating the HIV virus and giving relief to those who are suffering the most.

We request your support for the arts as well as the humanity of our cause.

Bless

About the Topsy Foundation

It is estimated that 12% to 15% of all South Africans are HIV+, which will result in about three million orphans by 2010. A non-profit organization, the Topsy Foundation was started in 2000, to join the fight against HIV/Aids – South Africa's new struggle.

The work of the Topsy Foundation is done using three programmes which operate together to help prevent HIV/Aids and alleviate its consequences:
- Home-based Care and Community Outreach
- In-house Care
- Training and Poverty Alleviation

The Topsy Foundation currently works with the rural communities from the Dipaleseng area in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. Activities take place from the Sanctuary – a small village with a total of twelve thousand square metres of building floor space. This is the initial 'flagship' for the Topsy Foundation, and in the long term the aim is to replicate it in other rural areas.

The Topsy Foundation has a vision of flourishing rural communities, where people have the tools for change, and where young people in particular, are productive members of society, in spite of the impacts of HIV/Aids. Its work therefore has a focus on children.
