BIOGRAPHY
As a rising union of artists, The Sensation Band has made an indelible mark on the Toronto music scene. They have grown to national repute with notches in their musical belt of live performances at the Molson Ample Theatre, The Bamboo, Toronto Island Club, Navco North Bay, Muskoka and a first ever-live performance on "The Edge 102". They have also opened for well-known reggae artists such as Shaggy, Shabba Ranks, Maxi Priest, Everton Blender, and Gregory Isaacs and received great reviews of their opening performance on the Luciano World Tour 2001. Performing for diverse audiences, The Sensation Band has also assisted in the launching of Dave Nichol's Island Stinger and was noted for their outstanding performance at Mel Lastman Square for the launching of Caribana 2000.
The Sensation Band was founded By Sadie, Shai and Krash who were all previous members of the all female reggae band Sweet Sensation. With the inclusion of Zoë, Byron and Charlene this fully-loaded band gained the elements necessary not only to grow into a premier band, but also became a bonded, committed group of friends. As a 4-piece, 6 member band, this dynamic group of musicians affirm that they have both crossed and broken pre-existing notions in the music industry about race, class and gender. Challenging and redefining the image of reggae music, on their own terms, they admit to having much pride in the foundation setting musical influences of jazz, soul, ska and rock-steady. They have been known to infuse the music they do with fresh energy and profound emotional depth that stirs the hearts and souls of thousands of new fans everywhere they go. Sensation Band's main goal, on their journey together is to utilize their talents to enhance the reputation of reggae music on a global level.
