Michael
Thompson a.k.a.Visionary began his relationship with music at a very young age,
blessed with a voice that inspired many. Michael’s foundation started out in the
church singing gospel with his family, and then he went solo.
Michael
started singing all over Jamaica where he developed a strong following of
supporters for his music.
He then began to travel the
world, where he has been such place as Guadalupe, Antigua and The United States; He lived in
Philadelphia for sometime. There he enrolled in
Temple University’s music program, Michael began teaching
Art Therapy to at risk, abused and delinquent children. Even with much success in that field he
felt the urge to reach more people throughout the world through his music.
Michael then immigrated to Canada to join the rest of his family; it didn’t
take long for the Reggae scene to embrace this talented vocalist.
He has
performed at cultural events such as Miss Canada World, Miss Ghana and many other pageants around
Ontario. Michael has opened for top Reggae
artists such as: Dobby Dobson, Half Pint, Errol Dunkley, Loan Ranger, V.C,
George Nooks and Admiral Bailey. He continues to make appearances at various
venues on the national and international scene. Michael has appeared on such
shows as The Canadian Reggae Music Award, Jamaica Day, Toronto International
Cultural Reggae Festival and The Jerk Festival.
Michael’s
first full length and much anticipated album is to be released in the fall of
2006.
Working
closely with Mr.Willi Williams ‘The Armageddon Man’ one of the true foundation
members of reggae music out of Drum Street label, the pair were able to gather a
few of the Old Studio One players for this project, giving respect to the old
and initiating the new, the outcome is proven to be magical. This album is sure
to make a big impression on any Studio One lover.
Michael
considers himself a Visionary inspired by God. His musical style is a blend of
hard-core conscious lyrics and a cool blend of lover’s rock reggae. His music
can be heard as far around the world as Ghana Africa, IRIE FM, Power 106 FM, and
VYBZ FM in Jamaica. and thought Canada.
This rising
sun hopes that his positive lyrics will awaken the World to a consciousness and
