     Juno Nominee, Wayne Passion has worked in the music industry as a Songwriter/Producer/Artist since the 1980’s.  Passion is an intense and versatile performer whose music contains a modern blend of Reggae, Rap, Rock and Dance. His unique style, once incorporated with each flavor of music, achieves a musical style that is cultural yet commercial.

     Wayne is the Co-founder of “No Gun Coalition.” The goal of this project is to help remove the guns off the streets and also cut down the violence on the streets of Toronto.  His new song “CHILDREN OF TOMORROW,” from his new solo album, which promotes Love and none violence, will be played across Canada to promote anti-violence.

     Wayne Passion a.k.a. Wayne Reid who was born in Kingston, Jamaica has been delighting audiences in Canada, USA and Jamaica with his Rough and Ready Jamaican D.J. Singing Style. 

     Passion started his music career in Jamaica in early 80’s along side some of Jamaica’s finest performers of the time, performers such as Nadine Sutherland, Tony Tuff, Sugar Minott, DJ Sojah, Capleton, Tiger, Buju Banton and Brigadier Jerry.

    Wayne Passion has released many singles on both of his Jamaican labels - From Wi Born and Good Youth record labels. He has also produced two singles for DJ Sojah that received wide airplay in Jamaica.

      In 1993, Wayne Passion formed a group in Canada called Rasta Survivor; they produced their first hit single “In a Somalia”, with all proceeds from sales to UNICEF Canada, in effort to assist with the Somalia relief. Within a year, the group received their first #1 single “Hip Hop Bogle” followed by “Daddy Biggs”. Following the success of these three songs, the group, ever mindful of the social causes surrounding them, became involved in promoting Gun Amnesty, by donating their time and talent and producing yet another #1 single, “Put the Guns Down”. This single also received wide airplay on several syndicated radio and TV shows. They won a TV Ontario Video award in recognition of their efforts. The group has since been featured on several Much Music programs and interviews (i.e., Clip Trip, Indie Spotlight and Rap City) as well as being featured on several other compilation CD’s and music projects.

     Wayne Passion has performed in Jamaica, US and Canada, alongside such performers as Mykal Rose of Black Uhuru, Jamaica’s #1 DJ Truck Fender and DJ Sojah. He also toured with Devon Martin on the Kumbaya Tour along with Paper Boy, Tom Cochrane, Tom Wilson, Universal Honey and Jeff Heli.

         Wayne Passion released hit singles like “Bush Doctor”, “Can’t Stop Wi”, “TicTac”and “Boops”which was a counter-action of Blu Cantrell “hit em up”.   

     In the late 90’s each member of Rasta Survivor went on solo ventures.  Wayne Passion branch off into music promotion and producing. 

      Wayne since performed at the Downs view Park on Canada Day Celebrations/2003 event alongside, Snow, Nick Carter and Sean Desmond. 

      His most recent performance was at the Air Canada Center/2005 at one of the biggest reggae event of the summer “International Reggae Superstars” show, alongside Coco Tea, Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, Kevin Little, Lady Saw and many more.
