Large raspect to Donna Makeda for elevating the reggae scene in Canada by honoring many of its performers as well as encouraging the genre to higher heights. These events to honor the contribution of its participants does aid to inspire award winners as well as viewers to produce credible works going forward. Many artists together must inspire each other! I know that it inspired me to see so many turn out and as one quoted and I paraphrase, “so many talented people gathered, something powerful can happen” and it most certainly did.
In depth interviews with Leroy “Artist” Brown, a foundation reggae artist living in Canada for a lifetime, shares parts of his journey, his views on the reggae scene in Canada, distribution and acceptance of his music in Europe, Family Man, Sly and Robbie and much more, including personal to his family and children. An interview with Steele, labeled as one of Canada’s best reggae exports, touches on parts of his journey, likes and dislikes and quite candid in his responses.
There is so much that has already happened, (quick convo outside with Pluggy Satchmo, a long time performer here in Canada and just turned 80 years old and still ready for his next gig), and so much more to come as Exco Levi was in the house as well fresh from his Juno Award win, bookings in Europe and major performances.
There are many parts of the journey to go and EADG Video, will bring the stories to the audience through Canadian Reggae World and continue to share that pilgrimage.
