“Banning dreadlocks in the workplace.”

The persecution of RasTafari is a constant because we have proven to white Christians and white jesus that The Christ is a black human.  There is zero scientific or genealogical proof that their jesus was white except in their illustrations and their programmed Hollywood white propaganda movies.  This is also common knowledge to all.  Even to white supremacists.  Even though most are ignorant and uneducated, they know some geography and totally aware that the Holy Bible was written out of Africa. Hard to convince any rational, literate person that Europeans were walking around Jerusalem at them times?  It is also impossible for Jesus to have been white when we also know that Mary was a black woman.  All original sculptures and paintings of Mary is a black woman, painted and depicted by white people no less, until they changed her color to white to suit the European.

The attack on the black race is a necessity for these weak minded white oppressors.  There is a constant need to keep black men “in their place” as it pertains to them feeling ‘superior’, which is an illusion that they need to create for their weakened psyches.  Back in slavery days the white oppressor used to pick on the biggest, strongest and possibly most popular male bucks /slaves and take turns to sodomize him, in front of his family and the entire plantation.  Today, their henchmen, the police, shoot unarmed black people almost daily and televise it (in front of the plantation) to keep the rest of us in our place.  It is the same behavior for centuries now, and we all walk around hoping for change.

“Leave the fox in charge of the hen house and he’ll be eating chicken every day.”

Why are the chickens appealing to the fox for salvation or even morality?  The fox needs to eat.  White oppressors need to kill black people.  It is truth that is evident!  Read a white man’s history book and all of the murders are laid out before you.  From 1505 in Constantinople with the Knights of the Templar attacking Muslims to the numbers of years of the African Genocide which some try to smooth out calling it the “slave trade”, the need of the white oppressor to murder is inherent.  It is in their DNA.  Their own history books prove that. The need to murder black lions is a constant and it won’t ever change.  NEVER!  The murdering today is no different than in 1505 or any other time.  The murdering is consistent and constant.

“They” are pissed at Colin Kaepernick because of his supposed defiance.  He is protesting police murdering, and got the attention of the world.  White media distract us with the upheaval that it has caused but still aint addressing the nationwide murder squads, at the ready to do more murdering which is what Colin is trying to get folks to pay attention to.  It has nothing to do with him being unpatriotic to his country, yet they distract and make the issue about that.

White media talk about “patriotism” and Kaep’s disregard for the country’s flag which isn’t even a part of the conversation.  It is your beacon to come to grips with the real truths that they need to kill and for us to shut the fuck up while they go about the killing.  Canada is no different to those who can see.  Ask our native population before you speak.

Freedom of speech my ass!  One is free to speak, unless he has something to say that moves the people, then they systematically shut you the fuck up.  How long do you see Kaepernick’s NFL career lasting now?  I’m being generous when I say, to the end of this season.

Anyone with a voice is murdered or harassed or harassed then murdered.  Charlie Roach, Dudley Laws, Dr. King, Malcolm.  All are attacked and harassed or killed or both.  They neeeeeed to keep killing and don’t like the interruptions.

RasTafari

RasTafari has always been under attack as it professes a black God.  The livity of the doctrine has spread globally without institutions or churches and collection plates.  Pride in self, education, livity, love, respect, deep spirituality, peaceful path, fitness, and vegetarian / ital food, non violent solutions to issues are attractive to organic and righteous people.  We are not ‘perfect’ people and not everyone with locks happens to be RasTafari.  Yet the locks are coming under attack by these colonial, racist, white supremacists in the US and Canada, forcing employees to cut their locks if they wish to stay employed.  Again this is not new information.  Jamaica’s prime minister at the time Bustamante ordered the destruction of Pinnacle, the first RasTafari settlement in the world, founded by Leonard Howell, where the constabulary went in, pillaged, raped and murdered Jamaican citizens and stole thousands of pounds from the RasTafari people.  They beat the people into submission!

Today “they” are directly attacking the folks with locks.  WTF?????????????  What is this constant need to oppress?  They do ovastand the significance of locks which they call “dread” because of their deep rooted, racist fear.  “Dread”!  What is it do you think that they dread so much?

Some RasTafari bring an intellectual truth that cannot be denied.   Tosh, Marley, Spear, Joseph, Mortimer Planner not perfect men by any means, yet spoke undeniable truths that guide the intellectual vibe of this planet yet speak of peaceful solutions.  Why are “dreads” such an issue if they represent positivity?  Ahhh, pretty simple to explain; RasTafari speak of upliftment for all on the planet but to “them” it comes from a black source.  That cannot be tolerated.   Peace?  That interrupts the inherent need to kill!

My uncle’s name is Hermon King.  To his crew, he was called Woody.  Woody King was a RasTafari that the Jamaican constabulary, working as colonial henchmen on behalf of buckingham palace, beat up and cut his locks.

I had heard many stories about my uncle and his brothers, my father Donald and my uncle Bentley.  The Three Kings.  After mom and dad were divorced, both Uncle Hermon and Uncle Bentley would come by to check up on their brother’s wife and sometimes give me and my sister Donna way too much pocket money, which we knew was intended for our mom.  They looked out for their brother’s ex-wife and his children.  Uncle Bentley was the president of the country’s largest soccer team at the time Santos, and was well known at the time and Uncle Hermon was a real star of the people for various reasons yet the one that sticks out and pertains to this matter at hand, “dreads”.

Like I say, I have heard so many stories about his exploits from so many other people, I got to the point that I wanted to hear it from the originator so I called him in Jamaica today and we spoke for a while.

I asked him about the time that the Jamaican police beating him up and cutting his locks.

He told me his story.  He moved to Spanish Town from Kingston as he had just gotten married and used to go down to the river bank each day (a gathering that they called University Riocobe by the River) to read, reason, eat, burn herb, which is all part and parcel of RasTafari livity.  He seemed to have been developing a following of people and the powers that be, did not like his influence.  So one fine day 14 of them showed up at his home, when he was alone, and took him down and shaved his locks.  Sometime later, unfazed by the police brutality, he met “an Irish man, a lawyer named Peter Evans, who was a very creative man” and took on the police force and the Jamaican government to court by suing them, won the case, they paid him a sum of money (he never disclosed the amount and I got the impression that he did not care much about the money) and most importantly from about 1959, it is illegal for the “law enforcement” to cut the locks of RasTafari in Jamaica.  Hermon King, RasTafari changed the law in the most oppressive place for the doctrine, Jamaica!

Here we are 57 years later and “they” come after locks once again.

Recognize the fear of the positive energy that RasTafari brings forward yet is always met by violence and injustice by the white supremacists.  One does not hear of the reverse?  RasTafari or any other people victimizing these racists?

We figured out that we have no interest in fighting them.  A spiritual existence is more important than a need to impress the plantation owner.

Looks like I’m going to have to find a lawyer like my uncle did?  Even though I have zero belief that it would change a damn thing!
I have said it over and again, stop reacting and responding to the murders.  They have never stopped.  They will never stop!  They are reminders of their “superiority” over black people which work on some...many people.  Instead start to promote our own businesses and educate our children... properly... from the home!

They change that you seek is within you.  “They” cannot stop your dignity or respect, dead or alive!

Our need to appease “them” is programmed and we will meet opposition from many of “our own” black people yet all know the truth of the prejudice they expect, maintaining their privilege.

I recognize their fear of RasTafari truth and their constant prejudice but that is their hang up and even in the babylonian situation, living “truth” is a must.  We understand the murderer.  Yet living spiritually is also a must for many of us.  Locks represent an affinity to the spiritual as it was / is worn proudly by RasTafari.

I don’t care which public washrooms are for “negroes only”, or sitting in the front of which bus, or how high to wear my pants, or which jobs that I will never have, or which restaurant I can’t eat in because I am a nigger, or which Afrofest festival they try to sabotage in Toronto, or trying to degrade the proud Black Panther movement, or the NOI, how many native American and Canadians you wish to murder, or the locks and the length of my locks on my head.  Your racism in ingrained.  You are born racist and will never change.  Your need to murder is well documented.

Go fuck yourself.  I don’t need your permission to be a black lion.  This is the major problem.  This idiotic system has black lions asking permission to wear, eat, walk, ride and live.

I DO NOT NEED YOU PERMISSION WHITE OPPRESSOR!

Keep on killing, keep on murdering, make up your racist rules, create all of the distractions that you can muster, yet the choice of a spiritual path and RasTafari is mine and you have zero power over that.

Your fear of the RasTafari “dread” locks is your racist problem.  I do not need your permission to praise H.I.M.

One of the things that I had / have noticed about being an immigrant to Canada is their need to make sure that I understand my place.  It has been so since I arrived in 1976 and 40 years later in 2016, that is the same expectation.

As is our nature we come here trying to fit in and be law abiding citizens yet the undercurrent of white supremacy is a constant in all aspects of our lives.  My impression is that “they” expect me to come here and to serve white Canadians, get along, fit in and don’t make waves.  For instance this racist country is still trying to card black lions.  Carding!  Where a person who is deemed a threat or more accurately who is deemed inferior can be reminded of their place and be subjected to the degradation of being carded.  “They” supposedly have a greater threat based on their racist views towards Muslims yet they still card black lions.

Then of course they deny it all with a smile and tell me all of this is my own perception and that it isn’t real and that I have “a chip on my shoulder”.  Hahahahahahahaaaa!  What they are really saying then, now and tomorrow is that they do not have any care for what bothers you.  “Just fit in and get along and you’ll be fine immigrant!”

I discard them as they discard me!

Just last year a white city councillor Mary Margret McMahon decided to block the success of Afrofest and the mayor nor the prime minister probably had no clue or care of what was happening.  We can always blame that racist white woman yet her orders do come from above.   Whoever “above” is!  The only reason why she didn’t get her own way is because of the heavy backlash of emails and phone calls to her and the mayor’s office.  One single white woman has the power over 60,000 Afrofest goers.  60,000 – 1.  It probably took another 100,000 emails to pressure their overt racism back into a closet.

They do NOT set my standards for me and as a Jamaican born person I will not bow to racist crap that stretches all the way to the Prime Minister’s office!  It is not our nature to bow!  The defiance that comes through our native music speaks of inequality worldwide, with no apology to anyone and that has always been the base / bass truth that reggae music brings.  How can I be less when the music creates such mountain-moving truths as well as Lions and Lionesses performing, writing and saying these truths?  A reggae soldier cannot bow!

So for the other new Canadians that read this, you are now aware that I know about what we all face yet am also exceedingly grateful for my life in this country and an ability to speak openly about the deep racism that permeates throughout the entire society and through discussion / writing I may one day be able to effect some changes to these naturally and intentionally, deliberately racist people.  I am also well proud of MANY things Canadian and even with their apartheid like policies, I find myself being proud to be a Canadian.  Might be the same syndrome that abused children go through with a need to love the abusing parent?  Who knows?  But I do love being Canadian and have great pride in presenting the music, reggae music made by Canadians.

How many times has a white Canadian said, “Man I’m tired of speaking about racism.”?  What that really means is that they are aware of their position of privilege that they have no intentions of giving up as well as a wonderment as to why we black lions just don’t come to grips with our place and get over it already.  Colin Kaepernik in the US is speaking openly about his country’s murderous habit of downing black lions and ignorant, racist rednecks are actually buying his jersey (putting MILLIONS into his pocket) then burning said jersey because they do not care what the white supremacists do to black people, just bow your head to an anthem that glorifies slavery!

The same redneck mentality is also right here in Canada and too many of you reggae practitioners are trying to make it in a system that neither acknowledges you as artists or even as people for that matter.

This is and has always been the dragon to slay for us reggae lovers.

I must also acknowledge the deep rooted crab-in-a-barrel mentality by many within the genre itself.   A bigger hurdle to me and some are the people within this industry who act like “reggae stars” and have no music making them any money anywhere in the world yet walk around with all kinds of attitude.  There is a divisive, cut throat vibe from artists to artist, from artist to promoters, from promoters to artists, from band to other bands and EVERYONE has some ‘solution’ and can tell you who is to blame for their problems.  The fact is, some of the talent is real and of a very high quality and much of it is mediocre or less than mediocre and those ones blame everyone else for their demise and claim lack of support.

Reggae a real ting people.  It nuh powder none a wi an’ me nah powder nobody.  Some of the main complainers will not accept the fact that they cannot make the grade because dem nuh good!  As much as there is a system in place to block reggae growth in Canada, some of the so called artists need to stop.  As a youth in Jamaica and probably even today, artists getting on stage with talent are greatly appreciloved and honored.  Those with limited to no talent do not go on stages in Jamaica because the restless crowd will not sit / stand though mediocre shit!  They will throw beer bottles and stones at the performer on stage with every intention of hurting them.  Because of horseshit political correctness, we are more ‘civilized’ here in Canada and many of us politely watch poor talent open up for bigger acts at MANY shows!

We must find a better judging system here in Canada.

On the same vibe there has to be some level of trust built among ourselves to create an effective infrastructure to filter the talented ones though our own system and export reggae music from the North around the globe so wi haffe drop de baggage.  Canada has no unique sound like Jamaica or England does and we do have the talent for it here.

Yet knowing this and witnessing it directly for 40 years now does not deter me in the least bit.  Reggae music has no boundaries.  We humans do create boxes, lines and boundaries but reggae does not.  So as I have said before, I follow the music now.  When I let go of my anger and frustration go and listen to the music and feel its beautiful force and energy, I know that I am on the right path.
Follow websites like CRW and www.torontoreggae.ca for upcoming shows, artist features and reggae information and continue to build our own vibe and energy.

Blessings,
